If you find yourself generally trying to follow someone else or just bomb down the middle of rapids this might be the course for you.


What's covered?

This course will be tailored to the individuals involved, but topics covered could include:

​- Improving river-running skills such as eddy turns, ferrying, S-turns, surfing, boofing etc.

- Scouting/river reading techniques land and water based

- More advanced rescue techniques 

- Coaching on paddle and boat control

- Making harder moves on easier whitewater

- Leading others on whitewater


Where will we go?

We will pick the most appropriate rivers in the Grade 2/3 realm for the weather conditions (some rivers might be too high/low) but as the focus is on building technical paddle skills we will aim for rivers with less hiking and more time on the water to maximise instructional time.  Options could include: Lower Crooked, Taipo, Mikonui, Arnold, Taramakau among others.  Expect also to 'session' a rapid or feature by inspecting it and running it multiple times for different lines/learnings.
